Hollywood Bowl Poster
Art Show

The Hollywood Bowl, a landmark in itself, is displaying various poster designs commissioned for its 2009 season along with a few exclusive original works from well-known artists. Look out for Liza Minnelli and Death Cab for Cutie as just two of the acts being promoted.

If all those trailers of George Clooney running around an airport have intrigued you, come out to this literary event. The author behind the book that spawned the critically acclaimed movie appears for a free book signing. George certainly thinks it’s worth it.

Chalk Repertory Theatre
presents Twelfth Night
8 p.m. > Hollywood Forever > $30

Whether your knowledge of Twelfth Night is limited to Amanda Bynes’ She’s the Man or you’re taking a Shakespeare class, you should still come out to this night of comedy and cross-dressing by an Ovation Award-winning group.

USC alumnus and inventive D.J. Daedalus heads to the Echoplex, alongside the bass-heavy Nosaj Thing for a night of electronic music. The D.J. duo Jogger, the first signees to Daedalus’ new record label Magical Properties, open, and it looks to be a night of eclectic, pulsing dance music.

saturday, feb. 6

Amoeba Charity Auction
4 p.m. > Ameoba Records > FREE

If you’ve ever glanced at the towering Amoeba Records on Sunset Boulevard, wishing to filter through their expansive music collection, you’re not alone. Taking this opportunity to bid on items such as vintage posters and seats at the Hollywood Bowl with the gratification that proceeds will go to benefit Animal Advocates Alliance.

Meryl Streep has transformed into everything from a high-powered fashion magazine editor to a loving cook. Now, some of the two-time Oscar winner’s most famous monologues will be performed by men who wish to reach her level of acclaim.

The Pee-wee Herman Stage Show

This icon from our youth, both an author and an actor, is bringing back his live act to Club Nokia just down the street at L.A. Live for an exciting four weeks. If the prices don’t work for you, hang tight in anticipation for his forthcoming Pee-Wee’s Playhouse: The Movie currently in production.
